What does it take to weather, say, a pandemic with true strength and resiliency? My guest Cheryl Jones is a grief expert, and a therapist specializing in helping people weather loss. I know you’ll find her story as inspiring as I did.

Cheryl Jones is a marriage and family therapist, educator and radio host. During her professional education, her first wife was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, which was at the time a uniformly terminal illness with a 6 month to 1 year prognosis. In the 8 years that followed, Cheryl engaged daily in the work of preparing for her wife's death. She received training during this period from Stephen and Ondrea Levine (Who Dies and Grieving Into Life and Death) and Richard Olney (founder of Self-Acceptance Training). After her wife’s death, Cheryl immersed herself in her own multifaceted grief, surprised by frequent moments of joy.
Cheryl is Manager of Professional Education at the Women’s Cancer Resource Center, offering training in Cancer and Illness Competency. She is also a support group leader at the Center. She has trained extensively with Erving Polster, leader in the field of gestalt therapy and author of many books, including Everybody’s Life is worth a Novel.
