Self-Care for Extremely Busy Women

Dec 4, 2018

In this episode, I expand our work on anxiety and panic, and just plain old worrying, with an essay of my own and a very informative chat. My essay, Soothing Thoughts for People With Anxiety, shares a few of my own perspectives on the subject. And yes – I have suffered from random panic attacks myself, a leftover from unresolved childhood trauma.

As for my conversation about anxiety and panic …

It’s rare when you meet an expert on anxiety who isn’t a trained PhD or a clinical expert, but instead has developed a technique informed by his own, hard-won experience. Barry McDonagh is such a person – and his DARE method for moving through anxiety and out into life is a proven winner. His books have sold in over 32 countries, and has a sales rank in the top 5,000 of all books sold on Amazon. They are accompanied by a highly successful app, audios and more.

And frankly, his warmth, compassion and practical good sense make this work a must for anyone suffering from these issues.

I loved our conversation! Here’s what I learned:

  • Why drug therapy may work for some not all – and why alternatives are needed
  • How and where panic attacks originate
  • What ‘anxiety sensitivity’ is and why it matters
  • The nuts and bolts of the DARE technique
  • The biggest problem with panic attacks – and why they perpetuate
  • Important mindsets for moving past panic and anxiety

If you suffer from anxiety or panic, or even just want to know more, I highly recommend this interview! And don’t forget to listen to the soothing, embracing meditation at the end … it’s got a little something extra for our listeners with panic and anxiety.

As ever, thank you for being here!
