Self-Care for Extremely Busy Women

Sep 17, 2019

If you were the little kid who was always shushed and told you were being ‘too loud’ and ‘too much’, this show is for you. My guest is Aurora Remember Holtzman, who knows quite a lot about overexcitability. If you have a big energy, like I do, this is useful info for sure!

I begin the episode by sharing an essay I wrote called “I’m too much … are you?” In it I share the path I’ve followed from zestful, racing little girl to shamed young adult to becoming a hard-working, happy content producer. It’s a path for any of us who carry that immobilizing internalized shame that can keep us stuck.

My interview with Aurora Remember is striking, because she is, as noted above, a voice for energetic bigness in the world. Here are some of the things I took away from our talk:

  • What is overexcitability?
  • The five key areas where overexcitability can occur
  • How they show up in your life
  • Why this resonates with the gifted population – and what that is
  • Costs and benefits of overexcitability
  • Hyperfocus as a trait and what that is
  • Self-care for the overly excitable person
